Natural Resources SA Arid Lands

Our role

Natural Resources SA Arid Lands (SAAL) is a division of the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources and works with our communities and industries to ensure the sustainable use of our precious resources – our water, soils, plants and animals. We work toward targets set out by the regional Natural Resources Management (NRM) Plan, which is developed by the SAAL NRM Board in consultation with the community.

Natural Resources SAAL aims to strike a balance between the economic, social and environmental outcomes we derive from our natural resources and between biodiversity and production benefits.
