What the NRM levies are used for

The Regional NRM levy and NRM water levy are two of the sources of investment into natural resources management in the SA Murray-Darling Basin region. The South Australian Murray-Darling Basin Natural Resources Management Board and Natural Resources SAMDB staff also seek grants and other funding from State and Australian Governments.

All investment into the region is pooled and used to fund annual works programs and ongoing projects for the SAMDB region, and provide the infrastructure required to manage it.

Income into natural resources management activities of Natural Resources SAMDB for the 2017-18 financial year is depicted in the below pie chart, 67.3% of investment comes from the NRM levies, 32.7% is raised from grants and other funding from State and Australian Governments.
