Support for land managers
More than 70 per cent of the land in the SA Murray-Darling Basin is privately owned, so helping land managers to manage their land sustainably is critical if the natural resources management aims for the region are to be achieved.
Natural Resources SAMDB land and water management teams work with land managers, irrigators and farming groups to ensure they have the right information to improve soil and land condition and irrigate in a sustainable way for increasing productive capacity and profitability and reducing the impacts of land degradation processes.
We actively seek new partnerships and work closely with industry groups, agribusinesses and farmers to identify opportunities to improve profitable primary production and demonstrate new research and innovative land and irrigation management techniques.
