Tools for land managers

The Natural Resources SAMDB Sustainable Farming Program, in collaboration with agricultural associates across the region, aims to provide useful and relevant electronic and online information to more areas than was previously available.  With the development of technology in smartphones and tablets, it has been recognised by producers that these devices are ever increasingly being relied upon to keep farmers, who are time poor in touch and up to date with issues relating to their businesses.

Over time the SAMDB Natural Resources Management Board aim to increase the range of digital tools available to farmers and land managers to make useful, relevant information available everywhere, including remote locations, providing farmers with more tools to promote decision-making and sustainable farm management.

Currently available tools include:

  • Realtime weather station information sourced from more than 40 individual locations across the SAMDB region
  • Factsheets in a mobile-friendly format to allow farmers to access them in the paddock
  • nrmFARM free online farm management program for farmers, horticulturalists, and rural property owners
  • Smartphone Apps for Smart Farmers 2nd Edition.
