Fire management in the region
Fire management programs in the SA Murray-Darling Basin region aim to protect land at risk from bush fires through a range of activities, including:
- prescribed burning (both for asset protection and ecological purposes)
- maintenance of fire access tracks and fire infrastructure
- other fuel reduction works, such as slashing and weed management
- maintaining fire related machinery and equipment.
Fire Management Maps is an interactive online mapping site that supports fire management planning by the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources. Fire management plans relevant to the region are available for download.
Natural Resources SA Murray-Darling Basin provides advice and support to land holders wanting to recover natural resources assets on their properties after bushfires.
