Natural Resources South East is committed to Aboriginal engagement, participation and partnering with the Aboriginal community in regional natural resource management. Natural Resources South East also highly values the promotion and education of Aboriginal culture in our schools and community.
South East Aboriginal Focus Group
A Memorandum of Understanding between the South East Aboriginal Focus Group and the South East Natural Resource Management Board has been developed and agreed to by the Aboriginal Focus Group.
The group meets regularly to discuss various natural resource management issues in relation to Aboriginal owned or managed land. One of the key roles of the group is to provide the board with advice regarding natural resource management issues.
Aboriginal Sponsorship Grants
Natural Resources South East is inviting applications for their Aboriginal Community Grants Program for funding of up to $5000 for eligible projects.
The Aboriginal Community Grants Program offers funding for projects that engage Aboriginal people or groups in awareness raising, education or on-ground activities that will positively impact our regions natural resources and increase awareness of Aboriginal Culture. This could include small on-ground projects, events, training, workshops and other community engagement activities.
Sponsorship will be provided to successful projects that align with the following South East NRM Plan themes:
Respecting Aboriginal issues
Protecting Aboriginal sites
Involving Aboriginal people
Increasing community awareness
Maintaining skills, knowledge and funding.
