The South East is widely recognised as the wettest part of a dry state. Prior to European settlement, almost half the area of the South East was home to wetland habitats.
With many different types of wetlands in the region, these habitats are home to a diverse range of native plants and animals. More information about wetland types and their management can be found in the booklet All Wetlands Great and Small – A guide to the wetlands diversity of the South East the Seasonal Herbaceous Wetland fact sheet.
