Grants and funding
2019/20 Community Grants recipients announced
Following on from the success of the 2017/18 Community Grants program, the SA Arid Lands NRM Board has held a second round of its grants program.
Land managers, progress associations and volunteer groups in the SA Arid Lands region were encouraged to apply for grants of up to $10,000 for natural resources management (NRM) projects, with applications closing at the end of May 2019.
The grant round was very competitive with 29 applications received totalling more than $200,000 in projects. Of the 29 applications, the Board will fund 14 projects totalling almost $100,000 in the 2019/20 financial year.
The SA Arid Lands Region NRM Manager Jodie Gregg Smith said applications were of a high standard and while all could not be funded in the current grant round, she would encourage groups to reapply in future grant rounds.
Projects funded this year include a mix of soil conservation works, pest control, and biodiversity projects, across the six districts. This includes continued opuntia control, rabbit warren mapping and ripping, fauna surveys, revegetation works, and monitoring of macropod impacts in the north east pastoral.
