National Landcare Program
The SA Arid Lands region has secured $10m funding from the Australian Government for land management and conservation Projects to be conducted across the SA Arid Lands region over five years.
The SA Arid Lands Board was successful in winning funding for three projects in the second round of the Australian Government's National Landcare Program (NLP2).
The projects range from one to five years for conservation and land management initiatives and will include SAAL NRM staff working with NRM Groups, landholders and communities to deliver the projects.
The year-long Landscape Legacies project had a sustainable agriculture focus. It captured and shared stories of successful soil rehabilitation. Four of these stories are linked below.
The remaining two projects involve feral animal control and removal of invasive weed species to improve conservation outcomes for threatened plant and animal species. They are Bounceback and Beyond (five year project) and Coongie Wetland Wonders (five year project). Details of these projects can be found under the Plants and Animals tab on our website.
