Pastoral Board and Livestock SA forum at Olary

Kangaroo populations, dry conditions, wild dogs and the dog fence were hot topics at the joint Pastoral Board and Livestock SA forum at Olary on 31 October.

Drought support and other pastoral matters were among other issues discussed. More than 30 pastoralists and their families attended the forum, which was hosted by the Olary Progress Association.

Pastoral Board Presiding Member Geoff Mills said the Board was very pleased to see so many pastoralists and their families take part in the event.

“The Board appreciates the difficult times pastoralists are currently facing with drought and high kangaroo and wild dog populations,” Mr Mills said.

“Board members valued highly the opportunity to meet with and listen to lessees, and to have the opportunity to answer questions.

“Together with Livestock SA, we sincerely thank those who attended as well as the Olary Progress Association for its hospitality and for providing a wonderful evening meal.”

The forum was followed by the Board’s regular meeting, which was held at Boolcoomata.
