Sheep Connect SA at Hawker

Shed and yard design, satellite water telemetry, drones and virtual fencing were all demonstrated at the Sheep Connect SA Sheep Technology and Innovation Day held at Hawker in September.

Supported by Australian Wool Innovation, Primary Industries and Regions SA, SA Sheep Industry Fund and the South Australian Arid Lands Natural Resources Management Board, the event attracted more than 90 people.

Topics included the application and potential for technology within the wool industry, including the use of drones, virtual fencing and water telemetry.

Trade display presentations ranged from suppliers of agricultural technology through to support and advice services such as SafeWork SA. The South Australian Arid Lands and Northern and Yorke NRM shared a stall at the day, providing information on pest plants and animals.

The management of Wild Dogs generated a lot of interest and State Wild Dog Coordinator Marty Bower was able to provide a short demonstration of a canid pest injector.

A summary of the day’s presentations are available on the SheepConnect SA website
