Tools for land managers
Natural Resources SAMDB has developed a number of digital tools to help farmers and land managers to streamline on-farm processes and help with critical decision making:
- nrmFARM is a free, web-based property management tool that allows land managers to record and store relevant information such as yield data, soil test results, livestock information, weed sighting and more. The mapping function allows input applications to be recorded against map points and can be used to help develop farm plans, organise staff, guide contractors and more!
nrmFARM is easy-to-use and can be accessed through any computer or tablet device with an internet connection.
- Natural Resources SAMDB’s weatherstation network provides historic and present weather information across the region. Information gathered from more than 45 weatherstations across the region provides valuable, localised data to assist land managers to make informed decisions about upcoming tasks such as spraying, irrigation scheduling, fertiliser applications and more.
Weatherstations record weather conditions every 15 minutes and report it hourly. The site is also mobile friendly and you can access the network with your smart phone or tablet device.
- The soil moisture monitoring network provides a guide for land managers interested in knowing more about soil moisture levels to assist in planning and decision making. Natural Resources SAMDB’s moisture probes are located in towns around the region, and on multiple soil types to make information as relevant as possible.
Live graphs show soil moisture levels for each location over a 12-month period. Those interested in more specific information can log into the network and format information based on a range of factors.
- Mobile friendly fact sheets. To assist those using smart phones and tablet devices, Natural Resources SAMDB has developed a range of resources compatible with mobile browsers.
