Work experience for secondary students

Depending on availability, Natural Resources South East (through DEWNR) offers unpaid work experience where you can learn about the fundamentals of a particular job or work environment.

Work experience placements are a great way to get a taste and some insight into a career in Natural Resources Management. There is a large variety of roles and career paths that support NRM and enable the positive outcomes to happen, and they are not all just outside roles. Successful NRM requires people with skills, interests and qualifications in:

  • ecology
  • landcare management
  • administration
  • finance
  • marine science
  • agriculture
  • policy
  • project management
  • media and communications
  • graphic design
  • Aboriginal and cultural
  • Park rangers
  • and a whole lot more!

If you are interested in a career in NRM, Conservation or the environment, then you will find a work experience placement with us beneficial, interesting, educational and fun.

Work experience placements are part of a program that is formally integrated into secondary or post-secondary education.

Being offered a placement depends on available opportunities, but also any experience you may have had and your aptitude for the role. Work experience applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis, usually by the manager of the relevant work area.
